Unpaid Positions & Adventure

Agriventure - Run by the International Agricultural Exchange Association, Agriventure arranges working exchanges to Australia, New Zealand, Canada, USA and Japan on farming or horticultural enterprises.  Applicants must be aged 18-30, have no dependants, be British citizens, have a full driving licence and have good practical experience within agriculture or horticulture or around the home.  Programmes depart all the year around (applications required approx 2 months minimum before departure). Programme costs start at around £1700 and include: return flights (and transfer to host family), full travel and work insurance, work permits, job placement, departure information meeting, seminar in host country and full emergency back-up through offices in hosting country. Programmes are also available to Americans, Canadians, some Europeans, Australians and New Zealanders through offices in their own country.

Base Camp - Run ski and snowboard instructor courses in Meribel, Whistler and Verbier. The courses include freestyle, racing and freeride training as well as first aid courses, avalanche courses and ski and snowboard tuning clinics. Base Camp aim their courses at those looking for a career change, on a gap year or taking time out from work.

Bear Creek Outdoor Centre - Offer a ten week summer programme in outdoor adventure leadership.

Edmonton International Fringe Festival - North America's largest and oldest fringe festival, held each year in August, requires around 1,000 volunteers to perform a number of diverse roles from face painting to photography.

Experience Canada - A programme for Canadian citizens, or legal residents of the country, aged 18 to 29.

PowderGirl - All female ski and snowboard camps based in Fernie, BC. All abilities are welcome to enjoy multi terrain coaching on piste, off piste, or in the parks.

PowderTrip - Eleven week ski and snowboard instructor programmes based in Kicking Horse, and a dual resort programme at Kimberley and Fernie.

Section 8 Snowsport Institute - Ski instructor training, snowboard instructor training, mountain safety and leadership courses on Vancouver Island, Canada, home to North America's deepest snowpack.

Ski le Gap - Provide the option of going to Canada to qualify as a ski instructor. After the students have received their qualification many stay on to work at the resort.

United Nations International Volunteer Projects - Over 1000 projects in Europe and North America as well as a more specialised programme of projects in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
