Blue Ventures - An award winning UK based not for profit organisation dedicated to facilitating projects that enhance global coral reef conservation and research. Since its creation Blue Ventures has co-ordinated marine projects in Madagascar, Tanzania, New Zealand, South Africa and the Comoros Islands. The successes of Blue Ventures research programmes have always depended on the dedication and enthusiasm of their volunteers. Volunteers from all over the world and from all walks of life work with them both above and below the water, and are responsible for a range of tasks, from carrying out field research to managing the day-to-day running of field camps.
Cactus Language - Language courses, tefl courses, homestays and community projects around the world. Not just restricted to students, the company offer programmes for both professionals and retirees.The website also includes examples of how to write your CV in a foreign language. 
Center for INTERIM Programs - Gap and voluntary placements worldwide. American organisation.
Changing Worlds -Offering the opportunity for personal growth and development whilst living and working overseas. Plenty of project types and destinations available.
Coral Cay Conservation - Conservation volunteers are wanted to protect and manage threatened marine & forest environments.
Cultural Embrace - Arranges opportunities to work, volunteer, teach English, study, internships and travel abroad. Discounted and free travel available.
EF Education - TEFL and other language related year outs.
Exploration in Travel - Arranges international volunteer placements in Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, New Zealand, Australia and Nepal. An American organisation, they also offer language classes and family stays.
Frontier Conservation - Frontier is a conservation research and development organisation working in tropical developing countries. Their conservation projects work to save endangered wildlife and threatened forests and reefs. Volunteers can join their expeditions in Tanzania, Madagascar, Cambodia, Nicaragua and Fiji and contribute to a worthwhile cause while travelling. They also have lots of paid staff positions for those with relevant experience who are interested in working overseas.
GAP Activity Projects - Sends 1,300 people from the UK to over 30 countries each year. They can also find placements in the UK for volunteers from overseas.
Gap Sports Abroad - A volunteer organisation offering both sports and non sports projects overseas. From fun coaching and art and design placements to hospital assistants and teaching support. GSA provides an unforgettable experience of adventurous travel, cultural exchange and personal development. Gap Sports Abroad offers a range of 3-12 month placements, 5 week projects and 2 week team tours, each offering a unique way for gap year students, post graduates and career-breakers to contribute to developing communities whilst having an enjoyable time overseas. For those interested in gaining the Duke of Edinburgh¹s Award, GSA placements are officially recognised as contributing towards the Award.
Global Citizens Network - This Minnesota-based non-profit organisation, provides 1, 2 and 3 week cross-cultural volunteer expeditions to Guatemala, Nepal, Kenya and in the U.S., New Mexico, Arizona and South Dakota, where volunteers work on various Native American Indian reservations. Projects could include building a health clinic, renovating a youth center, assisting with a summer day camp or teaching in a school.  Program costs range from $600-$1650U.S.; airfare is additional. No special skills are required, only a willingness to experience new cultures and an adventurous spirit. 
Global Volunteer Network - A non profit organisation placing volunteers in community projects throughout the world, giving them the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational, environmental and community aid programmes. Examples include teaching English, environmental work, AIDS education, and assisting in an orphanage.
Gwendalyne - Whether you want to spend some time fruit picking in Queensland, volunteering in a park in South Africa, having an Internship in Rio de Janeiro, or waiting at a table in Barcelona, Gwendalyne have a vast range of programmes for you.
Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange (ICYE-UK) - ICYE-UK offers 18-30 year olds 6 or 12 months voluntary work overseas. Placements available in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. Projects include working with streetchildren, disabled, NGO's, HIV education, health, environmental work. Can also place people aged 18 and over on environmental projects in Costa Rica and Nepal. The projects in Europe are funded by the European Commission, the other projects are self-funded.
InterExchange - Offers Americans the chance to work in Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Great Britain, Holland, Hungary, Italy, Ireland, Norway, Poland, Spain, Switzerland.

Latitudes International - Short term voluntary work in various countries. Fees involved.
LEAPNow - Internships, voluntary positions and work programs. Some programs are only open to United States and Canadian citizens living west of the Mississippi.
The Leap - Voluntary placements living and working in eco-tourism, conservation and community projects for three months in Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Botswana. South Africa and Namibia. Volunteers are paid an allowance of around £40 per month but need to raise the fee to cover the placement costs.
Operation Crossroads Africa - Over 40 years experience of sending volunteers to Africa.
Orangutan Foundation - This charity is uniquely involved in the protection of the Orangutan and it's Southeast Asian rainforest home. Their volunteer programme lasts for six weeks and includes hands on conservation fieldwork in the orangutan's natural habitat. Another programme, The Red Ape Challenge, involves raising a minimum of £2750 for a close up view of the Oranutan home in Tanjung Puting Park, Borneo.
People Tree Gap Year Placement - Among the projects offered is elephant conservation placements for volunteers that want to learn how to become an elephant driver or a Mahout as it is called in India.
Project Trust - Spend a year volunteering in one of 24 developing nations.
Pro World Service Corps - Voluntary work programmes in the central American state of Belize and in Peru. Through Pro World's NGO Internship Program, you will work directly with a local or International development agency on a focused project. The focus of your project will be self chosen based upon your specific knowledge, interests, and skill base. Some of the many internship options include: installing drinking water systems, working in local health clinics, teaching in schools, establishing micro-businesses, protecting the environment, and using appropriate technology in rural communities. Throughout the program, PWSC will incorporate private and small group Spanish classes into your internship to improve upon your fluency. This program is open to individuals of all nationalities and ages. Programs are four to twenty six weeks long.
School for Field Studies - Spend part of your gap year with The School for Field Studies, an environmental study abroad program. Join SFS for a semester or a summer to study sea turtles in Mexico, monitor coral reefs in the Turks and Caicos Islands, explore human/wildlife conflicts in Kenya, restore rainforest in Australia, test organic farming protocols in Costa Rica, and more.
