Peace Brigades International - PBI has branches in 15 countries and recruits volunteers to act as international observers and to accompany local human rights activists in conflict areas. We began working in Guatemala in 1983 and have run projects in El Salvador and Sri Lanka.

Blue Ventures - An award winning UK based not for profit organisation dedicated to facilitating projects that enhance global coral reef conservation and research. Since its creation Blue Ventures has co-ordinated marine projects in Madagascar, Tanzania, New Zealand, South Africa and the Comoros Islands. The successes of Blue Ventures research programmes have always depended on the dedication and enthusiasm of their volunteers. Volunteers from all over the world and from all walks of life work with them both above and below the water, and are responsible for a range of tasks, from carrying out field research to managing the day-to-day running of field camps.

Camphill Special Schools - Volunteer opportunities with children.
CARE - An international confederation working in 64 countries, responding to disasters or promoting long term development programmes. Voluntary work available with the Care Corps. 
Cathedral Camps - Help to clean and restore historic cathedrals and churches in the UK.
Catholic Network of Volunteer Service - Information available about voluntary opportunies around the world.
Center for INTERIM Programs - Gap and voluntary placements worldwide. American organisation.
Centre for Alternative Technology - Working for a sustainable future with help from volunteers.
Centro Camuno di Studi Preistorici - A non profit Italian cultural organisation specialising in prehistoric and tribal art. There are a few fixed roles for skilled volunteers. Volunteers of all nationalities, able to read, write and speak reasonable English are accepted.
Christians Abroad - Individuals with a Christian commitment may  work on development projects overseas and in the UK.
Church Mission Society - Church organised voluntary work.
Community Service Volunteers - Projects in the UK for Brits and foreigners.
Concordia - International volunteer projects in Europe, Africa, Asia, Latin America, the USA and Japan for UK residents. The projects last two to four weeks and include nature conservation, renovation, construction, archaeology, social work, youth work and teaching. 
Conservation International - Internships offered. Though they do not have a formal volunteer programme, volunteer opportunities are sometimes listed.
Conservation Volunteers Australia - Aid the protection of the endangered flora and fauna of Australia, plant trees or restore historic buildings.
Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland - Conservation Volunteers Northern Ireland (CVNI) is a registered charity involved in practical conservation work. Work is carried out throughout Northern Ireland. Task projects include a diverse variety of activities such as tree-planting, dry-stone walling, path creation, river clearance and pond construction as well as office work. The organisation also provides an extensive range of training courses.
Coral Cay Conservation - Volunteer expedition staff required to protect and manage threatened marine and forest environments in the Caribbean and Asia Pacific.

Cross-Cultural Solutions - Cross-Cultural Solutions' International Volunteer Programs are undoubtedly life-changing experiences. These programs allow you to work with dynamic grass-roots organisations while immersing yourself in the local culture. Volunteers typically work in the areas of education, health care and community development. Volunteer programs range from one week to six months. Programs are available in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.

Ecovolunteer UK - The Ecovolunteer Program offers wildlife conservation projects worldwide, operated by local conservation organisations, open for hands-on participation by holidaymakers and students.
EIL UK - Part of an International Federation, with contacts in over 25 countries worldwide, EIL operate a wide range of projects including the European Voluntary Service. Can only administer programmes for British citizens or permanent legal residents in the UK.
Emmaus International - Summer workcamps and longer term voluntary work.
Europe Conservation - Spring and summer conservation projects in Italy.
Explorations in Travel - Arranges international volunteer placements in Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, New Zealand, Australia and Nepal. An American organisation, they also offer language classes and family stays.
Ffestiniog Railway Company - The oldest independent railway company in the world offers a chance to fulfil every boys' first career choice.

Global Citizens Network - This Minnesota-based non-profit organisation, provides 1, 2 and 3 week cross-cultural volunteer expeditions to Guatemala, Nepal, Kenya and in the U.S., New Mexico, Arizona and South Dakota, where volunteers work on various Native American Indian reservations. Projects could include building a health clinic, renovating a youth center, assisting with a summer day camp or teaching in a school.  Program costs range from $600-$1650U.S.; airfare is additional. No special skills are required, only a willingness to experience new cultures and an adventurous spirit. 
Global Development Links - GDL is a charity run by students for students to facilitate volunteering in the UK and international development projects.
Global Vision International - A UK based organisation which sources volunteers to international charities, non-profits and research organisations. Since 1998 they have sent over 600 Volunteers on international internships, conservation expeditions and teaching placements. In addition to placing Volunteers they also provide funding for research equipment, professional staffing and training. At the time of writing GVI have projects from Nepal to Ecuador and South Africa to Alaska. These vary from internships with leading environmental non profits to field research positions in the Amazon and The Kruger National Park. Projects range from 3 weeks to a year, and are well suited to all ages and backgrounds. All programmes are carefully selected and their international and domestic partners include the South Africa National Parks Board, Rainforest Concern and the Endangered Wildlife Trust.
Global Volunteer Network - A non profit organisation. GVN place people in community projects in China, Ecuador, Ghana, Nepal and Romania. Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational and community aid programs. Volunteers can be involved in areas such as teaching English, environmental work, health and sanitation, and cultural home stays.
Global Volunteers - Send more than 1,500 volunteers to 21 countries. American taxpayers may deduct service program fees and expenses on their federal income tax.
Greenforce - Environmental expeditions to developing countries. Monthly open evening held in Covent Garden, London. Paid staff jobs offered to ex volunteers.
