Ecovolunteer Program - Wildlife conservation projects worldwide to aid creatures such as the Przewalski horse in Mongolia and monk seals in Turkey.

Ecovolunteer UK - The Ecovolunteer Program offers wildlife conservation projects worldwide, operated by local conservation organisations, open for hands-on participation by holidaymakers and students.

EIL UK - Part of an International Federation, with contacts in over 25 countries worldwide, EIL operate a wide range of projects including the European Voluntary Service. Can only administer programmes for British citizens or permanent legal residents in the UK.

Emmaus International - Summer workcamps and longer term voluntary work.

English Alive Academy - Volunteer English teachers required for two schools in Ethiopia following the British curriculum, one in Addis Ababa, another in Nazareth, a rural town 100 kilometres away.

Europe Conservation - Spring and summer conservation projects in Italy.

Exit Festival - Held near Novi Sad, Serbia, in July, a free ticket is offered to volunteers willing to work as stewards, bar staff and security during the four day festival. Details for volunteers are usually provided on their website around March.

Explorations in Travel - Arranges international volunteer placements in Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, New Zealand, Australia and Nepal. An American organisation, they also offer language classes and family stays.

Ffestiniog Railway Company - The oldest independent railway company in the world offers a chance to fulfil every boys' first career choice.

Frontier - Volunteer opportunities on tropical conservation projects in East Africa and the Far East. Volunteers carry out vital conservation and research work on coral reef, rainforest, and savanna ecosystems alongside expert scientists, local students, and villagers. Full training given, leading to a BTEC qualification.

Global Citizens Network - This Minnesota-based non-profit organisation, provides 1, 2 and 3 week cross-cultural volunteer expeditions to Guatemala, Nepal, Kenya and in the U.S., New Mexico, Arizona and South Dakota, where volunteers work on various Native American Indian reservations. Projects could include building a health clinic, renovating a youth center, assisting with a summer day camp or teaching in a school.  Program costs range from $600-$1650U.S.; airfare is additional. No special skills are required, only a willingness to experience new cultures and an adventurous spirit.

Global Development Links - GDL is a charity run by students for students to facilitate volunteering in the UK and international development projects.

Global Vision International - A UK based organisation which sources volunteers to international charities, non-profits and research organisations. Since 1998 they have sent over 600 Volunteers on international internships, conservation expeditions and teaching placements. In addition to placing Volunteers they also provide funding for research equipment, professional staffing and training. At the time of writing GVI have projects from Nepal to Ecuador and South Africa to Alaska. These vary from internships with leading environmental non profits to field research positions in the Amazon and The Kruger National Park. Projects range from 3 weeks to a year, and are well suited to all ages and backgrounds. All programmes are carefully selected and their international and domestic partners include the South Africa National Parks Board, Rainforest Concern and the Endangered Wildlife Trust.

Global Volunteer Network - A non profit organisation. GVN place people in community projects in China, Ecuador, Ghana, Nepal and Romania. Volunteers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational and community aid programs. Volunteers can be involved in areas such as teaching English, environmental work, health and sanitation, and cultural home stays.

Global Volunteers - Send more than 1,500 volunteers to 21 countries. American taxpayers may deduct service program fees and expenses on their federal income tax.

Greenforce - Environmental expeditions to developing countries. Monthly open evening held in Covent Garden, London. Paid staff jobs offered to ex volunteers.

The Green Volunteers Network - Updates on new projects and information on conservation volunteering.

Grupo Lubo - Works toward the conservation of the wolf and the wolves' habitat in Portugal. Volunteers help with many tasks including feeding the wolves three times a week.

Heritage Conservation Network - HCN organise teams of volunteers to help restore and preserve dilapidated old buildings.

HF Holidays - The chance to explore Europe for free is offered to confident, sociable and diplomatic people able to guide tour groups around European cities. Experience and language skills are essential. Hotel accommodation and meals are provided.

Himalayan Education Lifeline Programme - Volunteer work opportunities in India and Nepal.

Hope and Homes for Children - A British based NGO working in 14 countries worldwide with children displaced by war or disaster.

HorizonCosmopolite - HorizonCosmopolite offers internship programs abroad, volunteer work opportunities on every continent and Spanish immersion in Central America. Our programs are designed for any age groups, all nationalities and rarely ask for specific knowledge or qualifications. IBG - German workcamps.

Humanity First - Humanity First works on human development projects and responds to disasters such as earthquakes in Turkey and Iran, floods in Latin America, storms and tsunamis in the USA and Indonesia, and conflicts in Eastern Europe. Skilled volunteers are requested to enter their details into the volunteer database.

Idealist.org - A huge array of resources and vacancies for worldwide volunteer work and internship positions.

Independent Living Alternatives - ILA recruits full-time volunteers for 4 months or more, to enable disabled people to live independently.

Insight Nepal - Operate a short-term placement scheme is designed to leave the participant more than photographs.

Institute for Earth Education - Organic internships.

Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA:UK) - A small UK charity linked to 34 other ICAs around the world.offering one year volunteer placements in developing and developed countries around the world. No formal skills or experience required.

Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange (ICYE-UK) - ICYE-UK offers 18-30 year olds 6 or 12 months voluntary work overseas. Placements available in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. Projects include working with streetchildren, disabled, NGO's, HIV education, health, environmental work. We also place people aged 18 and over on environmental projects in Costa Rica and Nepal. The projects in Europe are funded by the European Commission, the other projects are self-funded.

Inti Wara Yassi - This organisation runs a wildlife refuge in Bolivia where hundreds of volunteers from all over the world work each year. As they are building a second refuge they could use more volunteers.

i to i International Projects Ltd - Volunteer abroad, teach, conserve and work experience in Africa, Asia, South America and Australia.

LEAPNow - Internships, voluntary positions and work programs. Some programs are only open to United States and Canadian citizens living west of the Mississippi.

Mast International - US based organisation. Voluntary work in various countries, mostly Europe, in agriculture, horticulture and forestry.

Mennonite Central Committee - Church organised voluntary work.

Millennium Volunteers - Government intitiative aimed at young people aged 16 to 24 looking to volunteer in the UK.

Mission to Seafarers - One year programme assisting chaplains. Committed Christians only.

Mission Volunteers USA - Church organised voluntary work.

Monkey Sanctuary - Home to a colony of woolly monkeys, the Sanctuary accepts several dozen volunteers a year. Volunteers stay for 2 to 4 weeks and contribute a small sum towards the cost of accommodation and food.

New International Friendship Club-Nepal - Voluntary work in Nepal.

NOGODODO - Bears witness to the efforts of those fighting to defend threatened habitats, species and communities all over the world, and links them to people globally who can and want to help them.
