Himalayan Education Lifeline Programme - Volunteer work opportunities in India and Nepal.
Hope and Homes for Children - A British based NGO working in 14 countries worldwide with children displaced by war or disaster. 
HorizonCosmopolite - HorizonCosmopolite offers internship programs abroad, volunteer work opportunities on every continent and Spanish immersion in Central America. Our programs are designed for any age groups, all nationalities and rarely ask for specific knowledge or qualifications.

Idealist.org - A huge array of resources and vacancies for worldwide volunteer work and internship positions.
Independent Living Alternatives - ILA recruits full-time volunteers for 4 months or more, to enable disabled people to live independently.
Insight Nepal - Operate a short-term placement scheme is designed to leave the participant more than photographs.
Institute for Earth Education - Organic internships. 
Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA:UK) - A small UK charity linked to 34 other ICAs around the world.offering one year volunteer placements in developing and developed countries around the world. No formal skills or experience required.
Inter-Cultural Youth Exchange (ICYE-UK) - ICYE-UK offers 18-30 year olds 6 or 12 months voluntary work overseas. Placements available in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe. Projects include working with streetchildren, disabled, NGO's, HIV education, health, environmental work. We also place people aged 18 and over on environmental projects in Costa Rica and Nepal. The projects in Europe are funded by the European Commission, the other projects are self-funded.
Inti Wara Yassi - This organisation runs a wildlife refuge in Bolivia where hundreds of volunteers from all over the world work each year. As they are building a second refuge they could use more volunteers.
i to i International Projects Ltd - Volunteer abroad, teach, conserve and work experience in Africa, Asia, South America and Australia. 
LEAPNow - Internships, voluntary positions and work programs. Some programs are only open to United States and Canadian citizens living west of the Mississippi.
Mast International - US based organisation. Voluntary work in various countries, mostly Europe, in agriculture, horticulture and forestry.
Mennonite Central Committee - Church organised voluntary work. 
Millennium Volunteers - Government intitiative aimed at young people aged 16 to 24 looking to volunteer in the UK.
Mission to Seafarers - One year programme assisting chaplains. Committed Christians only.
Mission Volunteers USA - Church organised voluntary work.
Monkey Sanctuary - Home to a colony of woolly monkeys, the Sanctuary accepts several dozen volunteers a year. Volunteers stay for 2 to 4 weeks and contribute a small sum towards the cost of accommodation and food. 
New International Friendship Club-Nepal - Voluntary work in Nepal.
Oneworld - Campaigning organization that hosts the websites for quite a few volunteer organizations. Use the search engine to find what you want.
Operation Crossroads Africa - Over 40 years experience of sending volunteers to Africa.
Operation Mobilisation - Church organised voluntary work.
Operation Wallacea - Often working closely with ex nomadic sea gypsies, volunteers undertake conservation, research and community projects and surveys of marine or rainforest ecosystems. Unqualified divers may undergo a PADI Open Water dive training course.
Orangutan Foundation - This charity is uniquely involved in the protection of the Orangutan and it's Southeast Asian rainforest home. Their volunteer programme lasts for six weeks and includes hands on conservation fieldwork in the orangutan's natural habitat. Another programme, The Red Ape Challenge, involves raising a minimum of £2750 for a close up view of the Oranutan home in Tanjung Puting Park, Borneo.
Peace Brigades International - PBI has branches in 15 countries and recruits volunteers to act as international observers and to accompany local human rights activists in conflict areas. They began working in Guatemala in 1983 and have run projects in El Salvador and Sri Lanka. Currently, PBI are operating in Columbia, Indonesia, West Timor, Haiti, Mexico and the Balkans. 
Pro International - International workcamps arranged in Europe and Africa between March and November for volunteers aged 16 to 26.
Quest Overseas - Gap Year Company specialising in three month expeditions to South America and other destinations.
Raleigh International - Volunteers aged 17-25 can go on 10 week expeditions abroad. Raleigh also employ staff, aged over 25, with various skills to aid the expedition leader.
SENEVOLU - Voluntary work with an organisation that promotes community tourism in Senegal.
Service Civil International - Organizes workcamp placements through a network of worldwide partner organizations.
Services for Open Learning - Volunteers required to support English teachers.
Students Partnership Worldwide - Recruit over 500 people aged between 18 and 25 from the developing and developed worlds to work in India, Namibia, Nepal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
Sudan Voluntary Programme - Volunteers, under-graduates and graduates who are native English speakers, are needed to teach English on projects in Sudan for 12 weeks or more. 
Sunseed Desert Technology - At Sunseed research, education and ecological living are uniquely combined. Take part in research into Appropriate Technology, Semi-arid land management and organic gardening, learn about sustainable living and become part of a vibrant community for as long as you want. Either pay to take a working holiday in an idyllic Spanish village or apply to become part of the staff for a small weekly allowance.

Trees for Life - Volunteers needed to help restore the Caledonian Forest in Scotland.
UNESCO Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service - They don't recruit volunteers themselves but, in exchange for 2 international reply coupons, can provide a list of voluntary organizations in your country.
United Nations Exchange - Over 1000 projects in Europe and North America as well as a more specialised programme of projects in more than 20 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Utsikt.nu - One of Swedens most popular sites for students who wish to study or work abroad; helping to find the right courses or work programs they wish to take. Their service is free for visitors. The database is impressively large and unique since the search function is very advanced and accurate. In English and Swedish.
VFP International Workcamps - 1500 short term intercultural adventures in 70 countries.
Visions in Action - Internships in Washington DC and six month and one year volunteer positions in Africa and Mexico.
VOIS - Host a number of charity and voluntary organization sites.
VOLU  - Volu, a NGO specialised in the organisation of workcamps in Ghana, accept volunteers for three weeks from all over the world and have two camp seasons: summer and winter.
Voluntary Service Belfast - Undertake community and conservation tasks in the province and gain experience that can lead to nationally recognized qualifications.
Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) - Skilled volunteers recruited to work in the developing world earning local wages.
Volunteer Abroad - A Cactus volunteer programme gives you the unique opportunity to combine a language course with volunteer work in Latin America.
Volunteer Africa - Provides details on British organizations that give young people the opportunity to spend time on a voluntary project in Africa.
Volunteer International Projects (VIP) - Based in Sri Lanka, VIP has an extensive range of internship and Volunteer programmes in Sri Lanka and the Maldive Islands, including a resort stay teaching English GAP programme, conservation, hospitality, media, fashion, business & IT.
Volunteer International - Journalism Internships for aspiring journos or journalist / photographers with Sri Lanka's leading broadsheet newspaper publications. The placements are only for those seriously interested and require a minimum of three months stay. Volunteer International suggest that these programmes are best suited for Journalism or English majors.
Volunteer Resource Centre - A helpful resource centre for anything and everything to do with volunteering in Ireland. They are not an employer or even a recruiter of volunteers for themselves but they do try to find volunteers for Irish organisations that need them.
Wild at Heart Youth Adventures - Volunteer wildlife programmes available in South Africa, Botswana and Namibia.
Wilderness Volunteers - Promotes volunteer service to America's wild lands.
Wildlife Conservation Society - Lots of things of interest but a tad slow.
Workaway - A website set up to facilitate contact between travellers and host families who are prepared to offer food and accommodation in return for a few light hours work per day. Work can be anything from gardening or maintenance through to child care or shopping.
World Conservation Monitoring Centre - Provides information services on conservation and sustainable use of the world's living resources.
World Service Enquiry - Well established information and advice service about working or volunteering in the developing world.
WWOOF Australia - Organic farming organisation.
Youth International - Inter cultural exchanges, adventure, community service and homestays.
Youth With a Mission - Christian self supporting volunteers required.
