| Set
up in 1991 by two very experienced organisers of ski holidays,
Fiona Easdale and John Yates-Smith, YSE have 24 chalets
in Val d'Isère.
RESORTS:
Val
d'Isere.
JOBS:
- Chalet
Staff
- Chalet
Assistant
QUALIFICATIONS
& SKILLS REQUIRED:
You
must be a British passport holder and be over the age
of 21. Applicants under 21 years old need to show exceptional
qualities to be considered. All applicants must be British
passport holders with a valid UK National insurance number.
YSE
say "all of our staff come to Val d'Isère
because they want to ski almost every day for five months,
on some of the best slopes in the world. You don't have
to be a good skier - it doesn't even matter if you've
never tried skiing at all - but you have to be a fairly
sporty, outdoors sort of person to contemplate a season
in the Alps."
The
requirements for each position are as follows:
Chalet
Staff
This position consists of cooking, cleaning and looking
after guests. Anyone applying must be ready and able to
excel in all three. When considering applicants YSE take
particular note of qualifications and/or experience in
cooking and cleaning, references from previous employers,
and especially a cheerful, friendly and sensible personality.
YSE study your menus carefully and suggest you make the
best meals you can actually cook (regardless of budget).
Chalet
Assistant
YSE also employ a number of Chalet Assistants who work
alongside Chalet Staff cleaning the chalet, setting and
clearing the table, serving meals, washing up, etc. Some
Chalet Assistants turn out to be sufficiently competent
cooks to run their own chalet, but most spend the winter
cleaning and serving. It is hard, repetitive work, but
there's a great team spirit, and many people are delighted
not to have to use their brains too much for a few months!
Again, when considering applicants YSE will take particular
note of experience in cleaning and waitressing, references
from previous employers, and especially a cheerful, friendly
and sensible personality.
Staff
will need to be available from the end of November to
the beginning of May.
PACKAGE:
While
working for YSE you are paid a monthly wage in arrears
in Britain, provided with board and lodging, a lift pass,
certain items of uniform clothing and the use of skis,
boots and poles. Transportation is provided to the resort
at the end of November and back to Britain in early May.
FURTHER
INFORMATION:
Some
Chalet Staff work in pairs. If there is someone you want
to work with, send your applications together.
To
apply fill in an online application form and they will
send you their full recruitment pack.
