Gap Year & Voluntary Work in Albania & Kosovo

Balkan Peace Park Project
With the aim of facilitating the creation of a transnational park in the adjoining mountain areas of Kosovo, Montenegro and northern Albania, self funding volunteers are needed to help teach English during the eight week summer programme at the Thethi School in Albania. At the time of writing there are plans for construction projects in Kosovo.

Balkan Sunflowers
An international grassroots organisation, founded in 1999 to aid the Kosovar refugees, Balkan Sunflowers runs a summer camp between June and August.

British Trust for Conservation Volunteers
BTCV works with partners in Albania to provide conservation working holidays.

Heritage Conservation Network
HCN organise teams of volunteers to help restore and preserve dilapidated old buildings. Their current project in Albania is located in the old town of Gjirokastra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to many attractive but crumbling buildings.

Involvement Volunteers
An Australian organisation that places volunteers around the world including to Kosovo where the project involves providing assistance to refugees. Volunteers should be aged over 21 and able to commit for three months. Projects are sometimes also available in Albania. Non Australians welcome to apply.
