Ecovolunteer
The Bulgarian programme involves travelling to the Pirin mountains to
help in the marking, measuring and photographing of sheep, horses and dogs that belong to the Karakachan people, a group of Balkan nomads and one of the oldest ethnic groups in Europe. Volunteers also help to take care of the animals, especially when there are lambs, foals and puppies. Additionally your help is appreciated in preparing food for the winter, cutting hay, feeding of and caring for the young animals etc. Assistance is mostly required from January to March, when the young animals are born, and the work is almost 24 hours a day.
