Institute for Education on Japan at Earlham College - The Teaching English in Japan Program (TEIJ) offers participants an opportunity to serve in a Japanese community as an Assistant English Teacher. The program is open to any BA/BS graduate of a four year college and a native speaker of English. Assistant teachers nominated for employment through the program must undertake a rigorous preparatory period of study of the Japanese language and Teaching English as a Second Language before going to Japan.
