Live, Work & Travel in Belarus

Belarus

The last communist dictatorship in Europe, Belarus has little beyond teaching English and some volunteer opportunities to offer worker travellers. While a few overland travellers stop to explore Minsk most are just passing through on the way to Russia or bypass the place completely and head to the Baltic countries.

Teaching & TEFL in Belarus

According to an article read by an American English teacher in Minsk, approximately half of all tourists that enter Belarus stay for just one day - in transit from West to East, or the other way. There's probably less going on per square mile for those looking to work in Belarus than anywhere else in Europe and when the Google search “tefl jobs in Belarus” brings up your own website - this page when it consisted of just the introduction paragraph above and a link to our directory - in 34th place we know we are going to have to earn the affiliate pennies from whatever advert we choose to chuck up here.

Few of the preceding 33 websites had much to say either so a cigar and a pat on the back is heading the way of Quinn's World of TEFL for the information on this page. Paid English teaching jobs can be found by those venturing beyond the EU's eastern borders who somehow forgot to carry on to Russia and Louisa Walsh is one teacher to prove this statement, even if she does say her payment arrangements are somewhat “improvised”.

Louisa goes on to say most of her work was found once in the country but says the best option when arranging work from home and securing a visa is International House. Cole Davis confers that IH is the only serious full time employer in an otherwise terrible market. A selection of other English language schools can be found at ESL Base.
