Slovenia was the first region of the former Yugoslavia to decide to go it alone and managed to get away after a ten day war. Though an EU member, and generally regarded to have made a successful transisition from socialism to a market economy, work prospects in Slovenia are mostly limited to teaching English and volunteer work.
