Want to be a Chalet Host?
by Iain Martin, Natives.co.uk

Then the best way to do it is to be prepared with a Natives Cookery Course! Immerse yourself in 5 days of chalet atmosphere and chalet life… Natives (www.natives.co.uk) has been organising cookery courses for the last two years, and guarantees to improve the skills, knowledge and confidence of anyone wanting to do a season in the Alps.

By the end of the week, not only cooking, but also menu-planning, special diets, budgeting, shopping, guest management, daily routine, hygiene and safety, cleaning, team work and resort life will no longer hold any secrets.

Beef DishesIt's as close as you can get to the real thing. Natives only employs tutors who have worked winter seasons already, so not only will you be well prepared to face a winter of hard work and pleasure, but you will also get answers to all your questions.

The course itself tries to strike a balance between developing your cooking skills and giving the sort of information that's invaluable in the Alps. Running a chalet successfully is far more than simply cooking a few good meals. It requires organisation, budgeting, cleaning and social skills.

On the Natives course you will be supplied with endless trade tips and a comprehensive manual full of delicious recipes, which can be your bible during the season and for a long time thereafter.

The atmosphere on the course is genuinely friendly and there is plenty of the kind of team spirit you will also need to complete a winter season successfully!

Just as out there in the mountains, our participants are a good mix of genders and ages. And again like in the mountains, you can become good friends, staying in contact and giving each other support during and after the course.

Cookery Course GraduatesAnd if you pass the course (we have a 100% success rate so far), and have a genuine desire to become a chalet host, Natives guarantees to find you a job.

Here's what some of the previous students have said about the course.
"I really enjoyed it and found it really worthwhile." Carolyn Mann

"Thanks for a great time." Jason Whiffin

"Thank you so much for a great course - I really enjoyed it and appreciated the way you worked so hard to organise such a comprehensive week." Gillian Garratt

"A very big thanks for the Natives course. Throughout the week you made every effort to make sure that we were all happy. I have learnt a great deal about hosting a chalet, my confidence has grown and I have picked up skills as well. I can't imagine that another cookery course would have prepared me better for the season." Ed Holtby
