Project
Trust sends school leavers (aged 17 1/2 to 19 1/2)
overseas for 12 months in their gap year.
Placements are mainly in developing countries.
Work
Project Trust offers a wide variety of placements.
If you want to helpwith deaf children in Chile,
teach science in the rainforest in Guyana or work
on an environmental project in the Moroccan Sahara
then we can offer all of these. We have been sending
volunteers overseas since 1967 and presently operate
in 25 countries. Many of the placements involve
teaching English as a foreign language - and there
are always other opportunities outside the class
room to get involved in other activities.
Project Trust is not an agency. We take a great
deal of care and concern in placing our volunteers,
and supporting them when they are overseas. All
must attend a 5 day sslection course at our headquarters
in the Hebrides, and then a training course pre
departure back on the island. Volunteers are also
encouraged to attend debriefing afterwards. We provide
help and advice with fundraising, including a fundraising
workshop near the volunteer's home.
When overseas the volunteer has a Project Trust
representative nearby where they can get help and
advice when necessary. Each country is looked after
by a Desk Officer. The Desk Officer will visit
the volunteer in the year, and is always happy to
speak to parents about how the volunteer is getting
on.

Fees
Fundraising total of £3,850 for 12 months.
Application Details
Apply via post or online. You will then
be sent a CD ROM giving details of our placements,
how we work and where the money goes! Selection
courses run until March in your last year of school
but the earlier the application the longer you have
to raise the money.
