The
ability to speak English is a vital skill throughout the
world and, if you can read this, it's one that you have.
Teaching and Projects Abroad recruit volunteers prepared
to give a three to 12 month commitment to teaching in
eastern Europe, Asia, Africa or Latin America.
By linking up with Teaching and Projects Abroad you will
relieve yourself from the worries of organising a job
and getting a TEFL qualification.
The working week is 18 hours long and will vary from country
to country. In India and Ghana volunteers will usually
teach school children. In Russia, the Ukraine and Mexico
you will probably teach adults.
Students will understand that you are not a trained teacher
- no teaching qualifications are needed but applicants
should be educated to A level or high school diploma level
- and teachers are supplied with lots of ideas for devising
your own teaching programme. There are few other requirements
to be a volunteer teacher; most volunteers are between
18 to 25 but those aged up to 70 are accepted.
Teachers are housed with local families or with other
teachers in hostels, and meals are supplied free with
your programme costs. These are (for three months):
Argentina £1995
Bolivia £1845

should apply nine months before they wish to leave.
