The Alaska Radio Mission - Broadcasting to isolated Eskimo villages, volunteers have been critical to this station's success. Only 15 per cent of applications are accepted but those successful will receive room and board, round trip air transportation, health insurance and a monthly cash stipend. Volunteers work in a variety of positions including DJ, producing feature interviews and documentary programmes, news reporters and producers.

Alaska Wildland Adventures - Summer job opportunities in the Kenai Peninsula and Denali regions of Alaska. Seasonal job openings include positions that require skills in natural history interpretation, outdoor leadership and recreation, fish guiding, raft guiding, maintenance, and hospitality.

Alliance Abroad - Provide many and varied opportunities for arranging shorter term jobs, internships, and teaching positions for all nationalities in several countries.

American Adventures - Looking for adventurous leader/drivers for adventure camping tours and hostelling trips. Americans with a good sense of North American geography, history and culture are the prime candidates for jobs. Foreign nationals will be considered for special groups positions which require bi or tri-lingual language ability provided they have the required visa to work legally in the United States.

American Institute for Foreign Study - The major au pair in America programme. Represented in the UK by Au Pair in America. Site carries a job board.

American Work Experience - Apply to AWE or request an assessment of your potential and guidance on how to strengthen your application.

Americas Best Value Inn - A large number of hotels across America. No employment info is found but those with the appropriate visa and skills could use the hotel directory to find telephone numbers and email addresses.

AmericInn - Hotels in 22 states. Enquiries about employment should be directed to the individual hotels.

A-One Au-Pairs & Nannies - Au pair, nanny and mothers help placements to the UK and overseas, including the USA.

Aspen Snowmass - Operates four ski areas around Aspen.

Aubergis Resorts - Hotels, and resorts in the western states of the US. Application forms and contact details are provided to those looking for work.

Au Pair in America - Au Pair in America offer young people a chance to spend a year in the USA and enjoy exciting cultural experiences while working as a nanny.

Budget Host - Many hotels across the US. There is a jobs page for finding work with their affiliates but it was blank when we looked.

BUNAC - Work available as a counsellor or behind the scenes on the KAMP programme. KAMP, open to students only, supplies maintenance, security and clerical staff to American summer camps. Opportunities for students to travel and work in various countries, such as Australia, Jamaica, USA and Canada.

Camp America - Part of the American Institute for Foreign Study, Camp America has been recruiting camp counsellors for 30 years and currently sends more than 8,000 to work at camp each year. 

Camp Counselors USA - Place counsellors from over 30 countries. 

Cedar Point - American amusement park recruits 3,700 staff every summer. Most jobs are live-in and the site includes an application form.

Childcare International Ltd - Au pair jobs.

CLM Services Corporation - Operates outdoor recreation facilities and related hospitality services in California, Oregon, Washington State and Nevada. A list of current positions is provided, mostly for camp hosts.

Council Exchanges - Work and travel in USA, Canada and Australia.

Crystal Holidays - Offers a variety of ski holidays and employ over 1,000 staff in Europe and North America. The majority of staff are required from the end of November to the middle of April, but some additional staff may be required once the season has started.

Cultural Cube - A variety of programmes for young people including working in the USA and the UK, cultural exchanges, au pair work, homestays and voluntary work.

Disneyland - The biggest and most well known park in the world.

Dollywood - Originally Silver Dollar City, this theme park has seen attendance figures rise 75% since Dolly Parton took over in 1986.

Douglas Ranch Camps - The ideal qualities for a Douglas Ranch cabin counsellor are good character, integrity, adaptability, enthusiasm, common sense, loyalty, honesty, sense of humour, patience, judgement, and self control.

Fado Irish Pub and Restaurant - Irish pub chain with bars in Las Vegas, Dallas, Denver, Atlanta and a few other American cities. Online application available.

Glacier Park, Inc - Seasonal jobs in the Rockies for energetic, enthusiastic, service orientated types. No application deadlines.

Global Citizens Network - This Minnesota-based non-profit organisation, provides 1, 2 and 3 week cross-cultural volunteer expeditions to Guatemala, Nepal, Kenya and in the U.S., New Mexico, Arizona and South Dakota, where volunteers work on various Native American Indian reservations. Projects could include building a health clinic, renovating a youth center, assisting with a summer day camp or teaching in a school.  Program costs range from $600-$1650U.S.; airfare is additional. No special skills are required, only a willingness to experience new cultures and an adventurous spirit.

Grand Teton Lodge Company - Summer jobs from mid May to mid October in Wyoming. Online application available. 

Green Tortoise - North American adventure bus company that employs drivers.

Harmel's Ranch Resort - Employment available from May to September 8000ft up in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. They hire college aged staff from across the States and some from overseas.

Harrah's - Hotel group specialising in casino hotels in Vegas and Atlantic City. There is a link to careers information.

The Home Ranch - American guest ranch recruits wranglers, guides, and service staff for June to mid October. Preference given to those willing to work for the entire season.

Kildares - Chain of Irish pubs. Short employment information available.

KOA Workamper - Work options for RVers at KOA Kampgrounds across the states.

Manpower - Employment agency.

Northstar at Tahoe - Openings available all year at this American summer and ski resort.

Park City Mountain Resort - American resort.

Personnel Agency - A European agency based in Bratislava, capital of the Slovak Republic. They offer services for Slovak students seeking vacation jobs in the territories of Slovakia and Czech Republic. They also seem to have a Work & Travel USA programme too, presumably for Slovak students. I can't say much more than that as it's not in English.

RiverBarge Excursion Lines - Barge mates and galley staff required for a 590 foot Mississippi hotel barge.

Robert Walters - Banking and finance recruitment.

Rocky Mountain Recreation - Seasonal work in campgrounds.

Six Flags - Six Flags run 28 theme parks across America and accept job applications from international students at many of their centres. Good English skills are necessary as all of the positions (ride operations, games and attractions, landscaping, food services, ticket selling, safari guides and guest relations) require dealing with guests.

Ski Heavenly - American ski company.

Southern DataStream - Agricultural engineering and consulting company that offers internships ranging from engineering to journalism in Florida. Fee required and some housing provided.

Steamboat Springs - Resort employment opportunities plus winter jobs.

Sundance Trail Guest Ranch - Hard work available in the summer and winter seasons in the Colorado Rockies. Positions include wranglers, wait staff and cooks.

Thousand Trails - Operate RV camping and outdoor preserves in 22 American states and in British Columbia, Canada. A link to jobs can be found via the site on Monster.
